Idaho Falls Community Food Basket relocates to bigger facility

KIFI - Evan Thomason

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) - The Idaho Falls Community Food Basket is moving its location completely. It is now located at 351 W 14th Street just to the east side of downtown.

The biggest upgrade with the move is the size. The new facility is 3 times larger than what the previous facility the food basket previously had For the past few years, the food basket had always had trouble of putting volunteers, staff and those in need under one roof Now, they are easily able to do just that with their new space.

The building was donated to them by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It was last used over a year ago as a place of worship and place for missionaries. The Church though has completely moved out in 2023 and the food basket has been doing renovations to it for the past seven months to get it ready for being a food pantry. Renovations have included removing carpet, adding a doc for their delivery trucks, and other necessities for the food to be stored properly.

The new building will open up on this coming Monday. They are still in need of volunteers to help out this summer. In order to find out how you can help, you can click here.
