St. Vincent de Paul receives $12K donation

AMMON, Idaho (KIFI) - A local charity is better equipped to help the community.

Ammon's Rehabilitative Health Services has just presented St. Vincent de Paul with the money raised during this year's 5k charity event.

This year’s event brought in $12,625 of donations which according to St. Vincent de Paul will go a long way toward helping people in need.

"When RHS just called us and asked us to do this, we were pretty blown away because we do help them with their some of their clients, too," Patty Keeley said. "So it's it's just been a win win for everybody."

"We give away almost double that amount every month in social services, whether its helping with utilities,  rent, food medical bills, medications. Just a whole host of whatever the needs may be at the time," Brian Forsmann said.

St. Vincent provides a host of services for the community. Getting involved is not very difficult. They say the main barrier is overcoming the stigma of asking for help.

"There's people that come in that expect help, and then there's those that come in who it's just so demoralizing to them," said Keeley. "And we make them realize that they don't have to be ashamed about that at all, you know, But for the grace of God go any of us. So, you know, we're just there to help them"
