Multi-vehicle fatality crash in Idaho Falls

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) - Police are investigating a six-vehicle fatality crash that occurred on Thursday at approximately 6:57 a.m. at the intersection of South Yellowstone Highway and West 49th South, in Idaho Falls.

According to Idaho State Police, a 2013 Ford Taurus, driven by an 18-year-old Basalt woman entered the intersection and was struck by a westbound 2000 Kenworth semi-truck with two trailers, driven by a 27-year-old Blackfoot man.

Both vehicles crossed into the eastbound lanes striking the following vehicles:

  • A 2013 Ford F150 pickup, driven by a 38-year-old Idaho Falls man
  • A 2012 Hyundai Genesis, driven by a 22-year-old Shelley man
  • A 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by a 38-year-old Shelley woman
  • A 2017 Ram Pickup, driven by a 62-year-old Shelley man

The driver of the Taurus was taken to a local hospital and succumbed to her injuries.

All drivers were wearing seatbelts.

The eastbound lanes are currently blocked.

The crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
