New snow tubing hill coming to Idaho Falls

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) - Gateway Parks and Kelly Canyon have teamed up to create a brand new snow hill this year. Marketing director, Doug Swanson, says he and his team are looking forward to bring an enjoyable, snowy outdoor experience this winter.

The hill is located on the south side of Idaho Falls right next to Ryder Park. This is just to the south side of Sunnyside Road and Snake River Landing. The hill is 35 feet tall and was built over this past summer.

The main activity to do on the hill is snow tubing. Anyone can go up to the top on the Magic Carpet and then slide down the snowy hill on a plastic tube. There are also many combos for people to do this with going forwards, backwards, sideways or in groups.

This will also be used as a bunny hill for beginning snowboarders and skiers. They will have rentals at an office next to the hill.

Tickets start at $15 per person for tubing. This will allow anyone to be on the hill for an hour and a half. Snow makers are going to start cranking in the next week to produce enough snow for the hill to be open sometime around Thanksgiving. The season will last until early April.
