Thanksgiving eve is noted as the biggest drinking day of the year

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) - The day before Thanksgiving (AKA Blackout Wednesday) is known as the biggest day of excessive alcohol consumption of the year.

Bars across the country have seen a 42% increase in transactions on Thanksgiving Eve and a 52% increase in revenue.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, from 2016 to 2020, more than 800 people died in crashes involving a drunken driver over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

Drivers should be extra careful on the roads. People should not get behind the wheel if they’ve been drinking. Even one drink can impair your driving.
