2 vehicle fatality crash near Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, Idaho (KIFI) - UPDATE: Caldwell's passenger has been identified as, James P. Borchers, 55, of Milwaukie, OR. Next of kin has been notified.


ORIGINAL: Idaho State Police investigated a fatality crash on US Highway 20 near milepost 142, west of Fairfield Tuesday around 1:00 a.m.

According to ISP, Craig S. Caldwell, 52, of Oregon City, OR, was traveling east bound on US20 in a 1999 Chevrolet Astro van. Caldwell crossed over the center line and struck a 2015 Ram 1500 pickup driven by Lancey N. Robbins, 22, of Melba, ID, who was traveling west bound.

Caldwell and a passenger succumbed to their injuries at the scene. Caldwell's passenger, Frank Brunetto, 53, of Oregon City, OR, was transported via air ambulance to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center, in Boise. Caldwell's next of kin has been notified.

Robbin's was transported via air ambulance to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise. Robbin's passenger, Andrew Leon, 23, of Meridian ID, was transported by ground ambulance to North Canyon Medical Center in Gooding.

All lanes of US20 were blocked for approximately 6 hours.

This crash is under investigation by Idaho State Police.
