Nails spilled onto I-15 causes mayhem for drivers

SHELLEY, Idaho (KIFI) - UDPATE: It was chaotic for drivers on Interstate 15 Friday morning. 

Bags of nails covered the southbound lanes between Shelley and Blackfoot.

Initial reports are 10 to 15 cars had flat tires from the nails. 

Idaho State Police arrived to direct traffic and sweep away as many nails as possible.

The Idaho Transportation Department used a sweeper to get rid of the remaining nails.

Idaho State Police says it is likely the nails fell off the back of a construction truck and it does not appear to be intentional. 


ORIGINAL: The Idaho Transportation Department reports debris is scattered over southbound on Interstate 15 between milepost 99-107 near Shelley.

Officials say to expect delays and prepare to stop.

According to officials, all lanes are blocked.
