Swan Valley businesses prepare for winter

SWAN VALLEY, Idaho (KIFI) - Lots of local business owners within Swan Valley are preparing for the upcoming winter season. During these times, sales decrease a lot and many have to save to get through the winter months.

Thankfully, the summer months this season have lasted longer than usual. Late September is when most of these businesses start to see their sales decrease. Temperatures have stayed relatively warmer than average over the past month with many trees turning to fall colors. This has allowed the tourist season to continue well into October.

Unfortunately, the summer has ended. Colder temperatures and snow flurries are beginning to return. During the winter months, businesses brace for sales to decrease in half. This is because Swan Valley thrives on the summer tourists. Locals in Bonneville County do help to sustain the businesses during the winter, but it is not enough as the summer.

The best way for these businesses to survive is to save. Many save over the summer months for the winter to sustain themselves during these months.

A few businesses did tell us however that they are expected to do just fine over the next few months. One decor shop has orders backed up for holiday pies and goodies. An auto shop is backed up on work for the next two months since they receive customers from as far as Wyoming.
