Fatal crash in Gooding County

GOODING COUNTY, Idaho (KIFI) - Two juveniles were killed in a crash that occurred on Friday at 5:08 p.m. in the intersection of US 26 and 2000 E in Gooding County.

According to Idaho State Police, a juvenile driving a 2002 Honda Odyssey was traveling eastbound on US 26 turning northbound onto 2000 E when police say they failed to yield at the stop sign and was struck by a 2000 Ford Excursion. The Ford was driven by a 50-year-old Wendell man who was travelling westbound on US 26. The Honda then went off the north shoulder and struck an unoccupied Backhoe.

The driver of the Honda was wearing a seatbelt and one of the juvenile passengers was not. The juvenile driver was transported by personal vehicle to a local hospital. The juvenile passenger was transported via ground ambulance to a local hospital, then transported via air ambulance to another hospital.

Two additional juveniles from the Honda, wearing seatbelts, were pronounced deceased at scene.

The driver of the Ford was not wearing a seatbelt, but his juvenile passenger was. Both were transported via ground ambulance to a local hospital.

The road was blocked for approximately four hours to allow emergency personnel and law enforcement to investigate and clear the scene.
