JACKSON, Wyo. (KIFI)-The Town of Jackson has formally adopted revisions to Title 5 of the town’s Municipal Code.   It covers business licenses and general business regulations and takes effect Tuesday.

The changes include new taxi fares, as regulated by the Town.  Jackson has regulated those fares since 2008.   The new rate structure includes a “Zone System” for ground transportation that establishes maximum fares.  It also allows taxis to charge $4 for additional passengers above four persons, utilizing an average rate of $3.15 per mile.

There will be six zones.

Fares are intended to insure that customers have predictable fares and that taxi company owners and drivers have reasonable returns.

The town’s objectives include reliable, convenient, and safe transportation mitigating the need for visitors to rent vehicles.   Hotels and attractions are being encouraged to post and distribute the zones and fare schedules.
