Man dies after falling off sky ride at Lagoon

FARMINGTON, Utah (KIFI) – UPDATE 1 p.m.  – A 32-year-old man who was seen hanging from a ride at Lagoon Amusement Park has died.

Farmington Police said they were notified Monday morning about the man’s death.

Police are still continuing to investigate the fall.  Police told FOX 13  the fall was unintentional.

The man was seen on the Sky Ride dangling from outside the chair with both hands holding on the safety bar.  The man fell about 50 feet.  He was flown by a medical helicopter to the U of U Hospital in Salt Lake with critical injuries.

His name has not been released.

The man went to the park with other family members but was alone on the Sky Ride at the time of the incident.

ORIGINAL STORY: A man was injured Saturday evening when he fell off a ride at Lagoon amusement park in Utah.

The man is listed in critical condition at a local hospital.

Video shows the man hanging from the sky ride as it crosses over an area of the park.

Farmington police said they received multiple 9-1-1 calls shortly before 6 p.m. reporting the man had fallen from the chairlift-like ride that transports people from one end of the amusement park to the other.

Officers and paramedics responded to render medical aid before taking him to the university of Utah hospital by helicopter.

The 32-year-old, whose name was not released, was riding alone.

Both police and a Lagoon spokesperson said it does not appear the ride malfunctioned.

An investigation is underway and the park is cooperating.
