TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — Body camera video from a central Kansas police department’s raid of a weekly newspaper shows that an officer rifled through a desk drawer of a reporter who was investigating its chief. The video from the August raid on the Marion County Record then shows the officer beckoning Chief Gideon Cody over to look at the documents he’d found. Cody then acknowledges the newspaper had what he called a personal file on him. The Associated Press obtained the body camera video Monday through an open records request. Cody had justified the raid by saying he had evidence of possible crimes tied to the circulation of a local business owner’s personal information.
