Reading Time with the Queens

POCATELLO, Idaho (KIFI) - The City of Pocatello Human Relations Advisory Committee announced Reading Time with the Queens as the recipient of the City’s 2023 Human and Civil Rights Award.

This award recognizes their outstanding contribution to fostering a welcoming and inclusive community and their dedication to promoting understanding and acceptance through innovative and engaging educational programs.

Reading Time with the Queens has faced challenges and opposition.

“This award is gratefully accepted. Thank you to the Human Relations Advisory Committee for doing its best to create a welcoming community for all people. Reading Time with the Queens strives to create the spaces that we needed as queer and Deaf kids, and we are grateful to serve our home, the City of Pocatello, one book at a time,” Reading Time with the Queens president Miss Cali said.

The City of Human Relations Advisory Committee takes nominations for their annual Human and Civil Rights Award on the city website in the spring of each year.
