Live burn training exercises in Rexburg

MGN

REXBURG, Idaho (KIFI) - During the last two weeks, the Madison Fire Department has been doing multiple interior live burn training exercises with all shifts and the department’s structure fire class cadets in a donated house on the northwest corner of 2nd East and Moody Road/2000 North, across from Walmart.

This will continue through the rest of this week, and the house will be fully burned on Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2023, during the final training session, weather permitting.

Because of the proximity to Walmart and surrounding businesses, the department encourages all drivers to use caution when passing by the training area.

“Having the opportunity to practice our skills in an actual house is invaluable, and these opportunities don’t come along very often,” Deputy Chief Troyce Miskin said. “We’re grateful a structure was provided to our department which gives our personnel this opportunity.”

At this time, no road closures are planned on Oct. 31.
