OGDEN, Utah (KIFI/KIDK) - E-bikes will be welcome on national forests, but will be subject to the same rules that apply to other motorized vehicles.

The Intermountain Region of the U.S. Forest Service in Ogden says electric bicycles, or e-bikes, are welcome on trails and roads where motorized vehicle travel is authorized. But, they are considered motorized vehicles and are not allowed on non-motorized National Forest System roads and trails.

The ruling applies to the region's 12 national forests and the Curlew National Grassland in Idaho. E-bikers should consult local forest motor vehicle use maps to ensure they're riding on approved roads.
