Chubbuck delays Phase 3 of New Day project

Road Work Ahead

CHUBBUCK Idaho (KIFI/KIDK)-The city of Chubbuck reports the first and second phase of the New Day Parkway extension project are now complete.

The city said the extension is ready for the opening of the Northgate Interchange. A temporary traffic signal will be installed at the intersection of Yellowstone, Siphon Road, and New Day Parkway until a permanent system can be installed.

Chubbuck is working with the Idaho Transportation Department to complete that project.

A Fort Hall Irrigation repair project is planned in the winter of 2020. As a result, Chubbuck has delayed Phase 3 of the project until 2021.

The delay will allow the city to coordinate with Fort Hall Irrigation and lower the overall cost of development.

The Phase 3 project will widen New Day Parkway from Yellowstone to Whittaker Road. It will include four lanes of travel, turning lanes, and walking and bike lanes on both sides of the roadway.
