Fremont County Sheriff release identity of body found

FREMONT COUNTY, Idaho (KIFI)- UPDATE 1/4/22: On Dec. 25, 2021, the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office responded to the death of an adult male in the area of N 1900 E and E 600 N, St Anthony.

The deceased has been positively identified as 30-year-old Juan Manuel Baragan-Martinez, of Denver, Colorado.

The sheriff's office said his family has been located and informed of his passing.

His body was found in a field in the Parker area on Christmas morning. Deputies say he died of exposure, but they are waiting the results of a toxicology report.

Investigators are trying to figure out why Baragan-Martinez was in the county. He had no known contacts in the area. At this time, they do not suspect foul play.

The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank community members who assisted in the identification and in reaching out to his family, as well as to offer our condolences for their loss.


ORIGINAL 12/27/21: The Fremont County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a dead body was found Saturday morning.

The call came in about 10:08 A.M., about a possible body in a field at 1900 E and 600 N in the Parker area. Deputies arrived on the scene and determined the person was dead "from what appears to be prolonged exposure to the elements," a press release states.

The individual's identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation into the incident and requests anyone with any information regarding this situation to please contact their office at 208-624-4482.
