94th Spud Day crowd lines the streets in Shelley as the parade starts the festivities

SHELLEY, Idaho - (KIFI) It is a local tradition now in it's 94th year, Spud Day in Shelley. This is the heart of potato country so on this day the spud is king! State Street was lined all along the parade route with most people getting their area staked out early for the best views.

After the parade there were the potato sack races , potato picking competition and the spud tug, a tug of war contest. The downfall in that spud tug is possibly being pulled by your opponent into a pit of mashed potatoes.
