Diesel fuel leak on Interstate 15 near milepost 120

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) - UPDATE: It was determined while in transit the driver of the semi-truck struck something in the road which punctured one of the saddle tanks on the truck.

The truck's load was produce, and the leak was from the fuel tank on the cab.

About 12-15 gallons of fuel leaked onto the road, which was mitigated by the Idaho Falls Fire Department using special absorbent materials.

Lindsey Towing and a hazmat crew were called to finish the cleanup and tow the cab.


ORIGINAL: There has been a fuel spill near the 1200 block of I-15 just north of Idaho Falls.

The driver of a semi-truck hauling the diesel fuel contacted the police around 1:16 p.m., stating that fuel was leaking onto the roadway.

IFFD and the Idaho State Police have been dispatched, along with ambulances and a battalion Chief. There have been no reports of injuries to civilians or first responders at this time.

Police have asked that drivers proceed with caution, and watch for first responders when traveling in the area.
