3 things to know this morning – November 8, 2023

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) - Here's what you should know to start your Wednesday.

1. Congress has 9 days to prevent a potential government shutdown. Speaker Mike Johnson and GOP lawmakers in the House went through a series of ideas yesterday, including a short-term spending bill through January 19th.

2. Both Shelley and Pocatello/Chubbuck School District Bonds did not reach the super-majority they needed to pass yesterday. Shelley's bond would have built a new high school and make improvements to existing schools. Pocatello/Chubbuck's would have helped renovate Highland High School, as well as expand Century High School's gym. You can find a full list of election results here.

3. The court hearing for Rachel and Kadyn Swainston will have to wait. Rachael Swainston waived her right to a speedy trial. Her preliminary hearing is now scheduled for December 5th.
