3 things to know this morning – January 29, 2024

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) - Here's what you should know to start your Monday.

1. Local authorities have discovered a dead body of an adult male in the Snake River near downtown Idaho Falls. They received a call around 7:30 p.m. last night that someone fell through the ice on the river near the Greenbelt. Law enforcement gathered along Memorial Drive in an attempt to find the individual. They found the body shortly after 10 p.m.

2. Tax season officially starts today nationally and in Idaho. This year's biggest change is the inclusion of documents from apps like Venmo. The tax deadline is April 15th.

3. The Idaho House State Affairs Committee is sending their first AI bill to the house for a vote. The bill would require AI-generated messages that impersonate a candidate in an election to include a notification that it is fake. Candidates who are impersonated in manipulated images, audio or videos may seek relief from the courts.
