Idaho Falls Chukars Hall of Famer Billy Butler named ISU Hitting Coach

POCATELLO, Idaho (KIFI) — Former Major League Baseball All-Star and Silver Slugger is heading to Pocatello.

Idaho State softball announced Butler has been hired as the program’s new hitting coach.

Butler is no stranger to Eastern Idaho. The Chukars hitting coach is also a member of the Idaho Falls Chukars Hall of Fame.

Before moving into coaching, Butler put together a lengthy Major League career. He spent the majority of his playing days with the Kansas City Royals and also had stints with the Oakland Athletics and New York Yankees.

Butler retired from professional baseball in 2016.

He now makes the move to Pocatello, joining the Idaho State softball coaching staff as the Bengals’ new hitting coach.
