Injured snowmobiler rescued in Ski Lake area

TCSAR

TETON COUNTY, Wyo. (KIFI) - An injured snowmobiler was rescued Thursday after his snowmobile rolled on top of him.

Teton County Search & Rescue was called around 9:45 a.m. to the Ski Lake area. A 911 call indicated a 27-year-old Montana man had a possible leg injury. The man was part of a group of four snowmobilers who had entered the backcountry from the Phillips Bench trailhead.

TCSAR assembled volunteer teams to enter the field on snowmobiles and the helicopter.

With the snowmobile teams standing by at the trailhead, the helicopter team was able to land near the accident site, assess the patient and load him into the ship for internal transport out of the backcountry. The helicopter then flew the man to the TCSAR hangar, where he was transferred to an ambulance from Jackson Hole Fire/EMS.

TCSAR commends the group for being prepared and dialed for emergencies and for setting up a nice LZ for the helicopter.
