Brock’s late TD run helps Maine fend off Albany 19-16
ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — Derek Robertson threw a touchdown pass, Jonny Messina kicked two field goals and Freddie Brock added a late scoring run to help Maine hold off Albany 19-16 in Colonial Athletic Association play. The Black Bears (3-4, 2-3) led 13-0 by the midway point of the second quarter when Messina sandwiched field goals covering 39 and 41 yards around Robertson’s 15-yard scoring strike to Steve Petrick. The Great Danes (0-7, 0-5) didn’t score until Dylan Burns’ 28-yard field goal with 1:24 left before halftime. Albany closed to within 13-9 in the fourth quarter on Jeff Undercuffler’s 15-yard TD pass to LJ Wesnesk. Maine needed just four plays to answer, scoring on Brock’s 20-yard run with 8:12 left. Albany pulled within 19-16 on Karl Mofor’s 2-yard TD run with 4:14 left.
