Irish stun No. 1 Vols; Pirates 1 win from ending CWS drought

Notre Dame pulled the biggest upset of the NCAA baseball tournament so far with its 8-6 win at Tennessee in Game 1 of their best-of-three super regional. The Irish got out to an early lead and held off the powerful Volunteers. No. 5 Texas A&M beat Louisville 5-4 on a bases-loaded single in the bottom of the ninth. No. 8 East Carolina moved within one win of reaching the College World Series for the first time with a 13-7 win at Texas. Oklahoma held off No. 4 Virginia Tech 5-4 for its eighth win in nine games. Four other super regionals open Saturday.
