Wind advisory in place through Sunday as gusts could reach 55 mph

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI)- Windy conditions will dominate the rest of the weekend with gusts reaching into the 30 mph range Saturday night and speeds potentially reaching the 50's on Sunday. Slight chance of showers tonight and Sunday with a better chance coming on Tuesday.

A wind advisory is in effect until 9pm Sunday night. Some portions of the Snake River Plain could see 55 mph wind gusts on Sunday. The winds will create critical fire weather conditions and have impacts to travel and boaters on American Falls Reservoir.

Saturday night will bring a 20 percent chance of some isolated showers and thunderstorms overnight with the low around 51 under mostly cloudy skies.

That slight chance of storms lingers into Sunday morning. The high will reach near 65. The winds will pick up as the wind advisory continues. Speeds will be steady into the 20 to 30 mph range, with gusts possibly reaching near 50 mph. A sunny day will turn mostly cloudy as the overnight low lands near 39.

The winds will let up somewhat on Monday. The high will be near 76 with mostly cloudy skies. The clouds will stick around as the overnight low reaches around 49.

Another system moves in on Tuesday bringing with it a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. It will also cool things down with the high around 65. A 30 percent chance of more rain overnight with the low landing in the low 40s.

Another cooler day Wednesday with a slight chance of showers in the morning before the a warm up and dry up takes over the rest of the week.
