A dry stretch gives way to potential storms Tuesday

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI)- Cool, clear conditions are expected Sunday night with a low around 41 degrees, followed by sunny weather and a high near 72 degrees on Monday. Pockets of frost, fog and low stratus clouds will form across central and eastern Idaho overnight into Monday morning.

The sunny weather on Monday starts a mostly dry stretch across the region that will last through early Tuesday. Monday afternoon will bring sunny skies with a high near 72 degrees and north-northeast winds around five mph becoming light and variable. Monday night is expected to turn partly cloudy with a low around 43 degrees.

Dry weather will continue through most of Tuesday before a low-pressure system shifts northeast across Idaho on Tuesday and Tuesday night. The system brings a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms Tuesday night, alongside mostly cloudy skies and a low near 47 degrees.

Precipitation is expected to move out early Wednesday, returning the area to sunny conditions with a high near 76 degrees on Wednesday and 79 degrees on Thursday. Overall, dry conditions are forecast for most of Wednesday through Friday morning.

Temperatures will begin backing off Friday into the 60s and 70s for valley locations after reaching the low to mid-80s earlier in the week.
