Spain: suspect in church attacks sent to psychiatric center
MADRID (AP) — A Spanish judge orders that a Moroccan man held for killing a church officer in January in the southern city of Algeciras be examined at a psychiatric center. He was arrested after allegedly killing one church worker and injuring a priest in attacks at two Catholic churches on Jan. 26. The court tells The Associated Press that the judge’s order is temporary and that the attack is still being investigated as a possible terrorist act. Spain’s interior ministry says the suspect has been under a deportation order since June last year because of his unauthorized migrant status.
