Mystery drone sightings continue in New Jersey and across the US. Here’s what we know

Mysterious drones have been reported flying over the eastern United States in recent weeks, sparking speculation and concern over who is flying them and why. Federal authorities say there’s no evidence yet of any national security or public safety threats, and many of the suspected drones are actually manned aircraft. The Federal Aviation Administration has temporarily banned drone flights in many areas of New Jersey and New York. The federal government’s authority to track and disable drones was set to expire at midnight Friday. A spending bill in Congress that would extend that authority was approved in the House on Friday with Senate approval expected to follow.
