Tracking summer temps today ahead of big changes for the weekend

Thursday kicks off warm and very summer-like around Idaho Falls with sunshine early, high clouds drifting in later, and temperatures climbing to 86.

  • Morning: Cool and comfortable start for walking the greenbelt, round of golf, or coffee patios before the heat builds. Get chores done before the heat shows up midday.
  • Afternoon: Warmest day of the stretch. Great weather for softball, food trucks, yard work, and cooking out! 88 in Pocatello
  • Evening: Mild with a light breeze and a few more clouds moving in late. 50's overnight.

Friday stays warm but turns more unsettled:

  • More clouds
  • Breezier conditions from the south gusting to 20mph.
  • Chance of an afternoon or evening thunderstorm and highs in the lower 80s.

Then the weekend flips the script:

  • Saturday: Much cooler, breezy, scattered showers. Temps plummet to the upper 60's.
  • Sunday: Mostly cloudy with periods of light rain early lingering especially to the north.

Basically:

Thursday = peak summer preview

Friday = transition day with a temp drop that will give you take a double take for Saturday.

Weekend = Idaho reminding everyone it’s still technically spring.
