Thunderstorms for Friday night and more scattered storms this weekend

Scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop across the region Friday night following a hot afternoon, with some late-night storms potentially turning severe. The unsettled weather pattern will bring continued storm chances throughout the weekend and early next week.

A chance of precipitation remains consistent throughout the forecast period from Friday night through the weekend. Daytime temperatures will remain warm, reaching near 90 degrees on Saturday before cooling slightly into the upper 80s on Sunday.

For Friday night, showers are possible between midnight and 3 a.m. as cloud cover increases across the area. Overnight temperatures will drop to a low in the mid-60s. East winds around five mph are expected to transition to the south after midnight. Saturday will bring partly cloudy skies with a high near 90 degrees and a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms. East-southeast winds of five to 10 mph will shift to the west-southwest in the afternoon, with gusts reaching as high as 20 mph. Saturday night will be mostly cloudy with a low around 60 degrees, a continued 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms and southwest winds of five to 10 mph gusting up to 20 mph before becoming light and variable after midnight. Sunday afternoon will be partly cloudy with a chance of thunderstorms and a high temperature near 88 degrees. Southwest winds between 10 and 15 mph will develop, with gusts reaching up to 25 mph.

On Monday, a chance of thunderstorms remains for the afternoon and evening hours. High temperatures will reach the mid-80s across the Snake River Plain.
