Three rescued from capsized boat below Palisades Dam

PALISADES, Idaho (KIFI) — Three people were involved in a boating accident in the Snake River just below the Palisades Dam on Friday monring .

Bonneville County Sheriff's Office said that a woman and two men were on the boat when it overturned around 10:30 a.m.

Deputies said the group was in a jet boat just below the dam's main outlet when it overturned.

When first responders arrived, the woman was out of the water; bystanders were giving first aid and CPR to one of the men, and the other man was trapped under the capsized boat. Boaters and others attempted to free the man but were unable to.

Divers and rescuers freed the man and began lifesaving measures.

Two helicopters from Air Methods and Intermountain Rescue flew the men to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. Deputies said their current condition is unknown. The woman was not injured.

Deputies said none of them were wearing a life jacket at the time, even though some were on the boat.

The Sheriff's office said bystanders and boaters in the area played a major role in rendering aid to the victims.
