Dropping temps and scattered showers heading into Saturday

An area of low pressure is moving into the region. We’ll see scattered showers and thunderstorms with cooler temperatures for Saturday. With the rain we saw Thursday, and the expected rainfall, the National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch.

FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT THROUGH FRIDAY EVENING:

  • WHAT…Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.
  • WHERE…A portion of southeast Idaho, including the following area, Upper Snake River Plain.
  • WHEN…Through this evening.
  • IMPACTS…Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Storm drains and ditches may become clogged with debris.
  • ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Heavy rainfall from thunderstorms is expected through this evening across eastern Idaho. Rainfall amounts in excess of 0.50" are possible, leading to flooding within burn scars, steep terrain, and urban areas.

For Friday night, there will be more scattered showers and thunderstorms before midnight, then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1am. Mostly cloudy skies, with a low around the mid 40’s. West southwest wind around 10 mph. The chance of precipitation is 70%.

On Saturday, there is a chance of showers and thunderstorms with mostly cloudy skies. High temperatures in the Snake River Plain will only reach the lower to mid 60’s.

Clearing out nicely for Sunday, with high temperatures reaching the upper 60’s.

Monday will be sunny and warmer with high temperatures back to the mid 70’s for the Snake River Plain.
