Hillcrest secures Civil War victory with 22-10 win

AMMON, Idaho (KIFI) – Hillcrest defeated Bonneville 22-10 at Westmark Stadium in front of a packed crowd, securing its fifth consecutive victory in the annual “Civil War” rivalry game.

Hillcrest opened the scoring on its first drive, highlighted by a run from J'Vion King that set the Knights up inside the 5-yard line. Two plays later, Maddox Ellingford took a handoff and scored a touchdown. Hillcrest attempted a two-point conversion but did not convert, taking an initial 6-0 lead.

Bonneville's opening drive was halted on third down when quarterback Jaxton Briggs was sacked by Cache Clements, forcing a punt. Late in the first half, Briggs completed a long pass to Kaine Rodriguez to reach the 1-yard line. A false start penalty subsequently pushed Bonneville back and after a few attempts for the end zone came up short, Cooper Pugmire kicked a field goal to make the score 6-3 at halftime.

Coming out of half, Bonneville took a 10-6 lead, but Hillcrest shut them out the rest of the way. The Knights take the win 22-10 at Westmark Stadium.
