Idaho Falls man arrested after allegedly fighting officers

BONNEVILLE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI)– A 27-year-old Idaho Falls man is facing multiple charges after allegedly fighting with Bonneville County sheriff's deputies and threatening to kill them during an early morning arrest.

Adrian Martinez already had active warrants for driving while suspended and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the Bonneville County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded around 5 a.m. on Saturday to a home in the 1700 block of Fyfe Street after receiving information that Martinez was hiding in the basement.

Officers found Martinez hiding under blankets near a bed. Three young children were also in the room. Martinez became aggressive, made verbal threats against the deputies and physically fought them before being placed in handcuffs.

The sheriff's office says Martinez continued threatening deputies as they attempted to secure him in the patrol vehicle.

During the trip to the jail, Martinez reportedly unbuckled his seatbelt and attempted to break a window, damaging the interior of the patrol car. He also threatened to escape from the vehicle and harm the deputies.

Martinez was booked into jail for the outstanding Misdemeanor Warrants along with new Felony charges for Assault on Certain Personnel and Attempted Escape, and new Misdemeanor charges for Resisting Arrest and Malicious Injury to Property.
