Skyline’s Asay Our Summit Orthopaedics Athlete Of The Week (9/2)

With the generous support of Summit Orthopaedics, we’ll once again bring you our high school Athlete of the Week each and every Tuesday. The first such honoree is a lightning fast running back who helped his team to a dramatic win on Friday.

Coming off a 1-8 season, in which they felt they could have done much better, the Skyline football team and Max Asay in particular were especially ready to go.

“I was way pumped for the game, really nervous, about to throw up I was so nervous,” said the junior running back. “Everybody was pumped. I’ve never felt like the team was more ready for a game.”

That energy carried over to the game for Asay, as he scored all four of Skyline’s touchdowns against Rigby, including the dramatic game-winner with under thirty seconds to play.

“We were in our no huddle, we were going fast and I was really tired,” said Asay. “When the play was called, I was really excited and knew I could get it in there, and we had some sweet open field blocks and got the touchdown.”

Now, with an exciting opening win in their rearview mirrow, the Grizz and Asay hope to build on their first week success.

“Since we won that game, everybody’s loosened up, and we’re ready to get another win,” said Asay.

If they keep giving the ball to this week’s Summit Orthopaedics Athlete of the Week, that may very well be a possibility.
