The accident happened on Highway 31 near Swan Valley.
Police said Holly Galbraith, of Jackson, and seven teenagers were inside a Chevrolet Suburban when it went off the road and rolled several times, landing in the water 150 feet below.
Two of the eight people are suffering from serious injuries; they were both air lifted to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. One was later flown to a hospital in Utah.
Paramedics from Idaho Falls, Swan Valley and Bonneville County rescued four of the most seriously injured individuals from the scene of the crash by using a highline. The others were harnessed in and helped up the cliff on foot.
Highway 31 has reopened in both directions between Swan Valley and Victor, but police said the road conditions are bad and advise people to avoid the area.
