Running For A Good Cause

April is nationally recognized as child abuse prevention month. Following the recent death of 6-year-old Afton Allison in Pocatello, community members across eastern Idaho are looking for ways to raise funds and awareness to battle child abuse.

The City of Idaho Falls hosted a 5K run and walk Saturday morning called “Believe in the Blue.” Hundreds of supporters signed up for the three mile race along the greenbelt.

All funds received from the event go toward spreading awareness and prevention for child abuse.

“It’s important for people to think about child abuse, that it is in our community and that it happens in our community,” said James Drake, one of the organizers.

Mayor Jared Fuhriman proclaimed Saturday April 21 to be Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Day in Idaho Falls.
