Mother Charged After Son Nearly Drowns In Tub

Prosecutors in Canyon County have filed charges against a Nampa woman after her 1-year-old son nearly drowned in the bathtub while she was outside smoking a cigarette.

KTVB-TV reports 32-year-old Stefanie Antrim was arrested Thursday afternoon and made an initial court appearance Friday on a charge of felony injury to a child.

Court records say Antrim told police she left her boys in the tub while she loaded the dishwasher and smoked a cigarette. While she was outside, her 4-year-old began screaming that the baby had turned blue. She found the boy floating face down in the water.

Police say Antrim’s blood alcohol level was one-and-a-half times the legal limit to drive. She acknowledged drinking four or five 16-ounce cans of beer.

The boy was hospitalized overnight and released Friday.
