Idaho Falls Man Gets Prison For Domestic Battery

A 34-year-old Idaho Falls man will spend at least three years in prison for the April 12, 2011, attack of his ex-girlfriend. Lucan Demar Charboneau appeared for sentencing before 7th District Judge Jon Shindurling on Thursday.

Bonneville County Prosecutor Bruce Pickett says Charboneau pleaded guilty to felony domestic battery. Another charge of attempted strangulation was dismissed. Shindurling sentenced Charboneau to three years minimum and seven years indeterminate prison time along with $1175 in fines and costs. He was also ordered to complete mental health treatment before his release from prison.

Charboneau was arrested after police responded to a residence in the 500 block of Vassar for a disturbance. Investigation revealed he had struck a woman at his home several times before she fled to a hospital and contacted police.
