Spotty rain showers early Wednesday morning give way to warmer afternoon temps

As you wake up Wednesday morning, you might notice slightly damp streets and sidewalks: we're expecting light, spotty rain showers to move through Eastern Idaho early this morning. This will give way to one final day of warmer temperatures and a sunny afternoon, as the second half of this week brings storm mixes into the region.

As low pressure along the California coast moves closer, more moisture will enter the region. Overnight into Wednesday morning, we'll see partly to mostly cloudy skies with a chance of showers and light thunderstorms. Overnight low temperatures in the Snake River Plain will drop to around 40°. After sunrise, clouds should break enough to bring more sunshine across Eastern Idaho, and temperatures will warm up to near 70 degrees in the afternoon. As a result, Wednesday afternoon and evening should be mostly mild and pleasant.

High temperatures will still reach the mid to upper 60s, with light winds of around 15-20 mph and possible gusts. Localized gusty winds are possible with the chance of thunderstorms. Overnight lows will drop to the mid-40s, under partly to mostly cloudy skies.

Widespread rain should arrive by Thursday afternoon, changing the outlook for the rest of the week's forecast. Thursday temperatures will reach the upper 60s, with a chance of scattered showers. By Friday, the area of low pressure moves directly to our south; our temperatures will drop dramatically.; with most highs barely reaching the upper 40s across the region.

Saturday highs will stay in the mid to upper 40s. We expect a wintry mix of precipitation, with colder, windier weather. Some light snow is possible in the Central Mountains and Eastern Highlands as the stormy mix pushes into Eastern Idaho and Western Wyoming.
