Eastern Idaho Tax Issues Decided

In addition to candidate selections, a number of other tax issues were decided by voters Tuesday.

Voters in the Fremont School District rejected a two year, $2.4 million supplemental levy. 53% of those voting opposed the proposal.

Idaho Falls School District 91 hopes to win approval for a ten year, $2.4 million per year Special Plant Facility Levy. It will require a 55% majority.

Two school issues went to voters in Power County. By a vote of 53 to 4, voters approved a $30,000 per year supplemental levy. And Rockland school district voters approved a two year, $210,000 per year supplemental levy by a vote of 111 in favor to 22 against.

The Salmon School District will brought a two year, $350,000 per year supplemental levy to voters. It was approved on a final vote of 1000 to 516.

The Shelley-Firth Fire District won approval of a $1.7 million bond issue. After approval of 1378 in favor to o702 against, the bond will help the district construct a new fire station in Shelley and renovate the existing Firth fire station.

Shelley School District #60 is won approval of a two-year, $400,000 a year supplemental levy. Voters approved the measure by a vote of 805 to 581.

Voters in the South Fremont Fire Protection District approved a move that will allow the district to to make its tax levy permanent.

The Sugar Salem School Board, which includes parts of Fremont and Madison Counties, passed a $5.5 million bond issue to meet facility needs. The final vote was 636 to 228…a 74% majority.

By a 60% margin, Teton County voters have approved a million dollar a year supplemental levy aimed at improving roads and bridges. The final tally was 999 in favor to 660 against.
