Pocatello Mail Processing Plant Off Chopping Block For Now

The Pocatello mail processing plant on Flandro Drive survived the first round of cuts the United States Postal Service announced Thursday afternoon.

USPS announced plans to move ahead with a modified plan to consolidate its network of 461 mail-processing locations in phases.

Earlier, the service had planned to move its mail processing operations from the Pocatello Customer Service Mail Processing Center to the Salt Lake City Processing and Distribution Center.

The first phase of activities will result in up to 140 consolidations throughout February 2013.

Unless the circumstances of the Postal Service change in the meantime, a second and final phase of 89 consolidations is scheduled to begin in February 2014.
