Idaho Falls looking for two in a row
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho — The Idaho Falls Chukars look to make it two in a row Monday night (7:15) as they host the Ogden Raptors at Melaleuca Field.
Idaho Falls defeated Ogden 9-4 Sunday afternoon.
The Chukars are 3-2 on the year against the Raptors, winning two of three in Utah last week. The Idaho Falls bats have scored a total of 29 runs against the Raptors pitchers in those first five games.
Left-hander Sam Selman gets the start on the mound for Idaho Falls. So far this season, Selman has seen 5 1/3 innings of work on one relief appearance and one start. The second-round pick by the Kansas City Royals in 2012 has a 1-0 record, picking up the win in relief on June 20. In his first professional start June 26, Selman gave up four hits and one earned run while striking out three.
Through 14 games this season, the Chukars’ bats open games on fire. Idaho Falls has scored 41 runs over the first three innings, but the Chukars have only produced 49 runs over the final six innings. Idaho Falls is 7-0 when leading after the 8th inning and 3-0 when the starting pitcher lasts six innings or longer.
