Marshall-Spreier family gives back to Charlotte Fire victims

The Marshall-Spreier family is no stranger to tragedy; the “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” family had a new home built for them in Pocatello after a fire claimed their house in 2010.

On Thursday, they raised money for those who lost their homes in the Charlotte Fire.

Jane Marshall saidacquaintanceSuzanne Friend asked her to hold a house concert months ago for the band The Family Carr from Ashland, Ore.

They planned it, but when Marshall heard that 66 families lost their homes in the fire, she decided to dedicate the concert to the them, and donate the proceeds of the concert, and a silent auction, to those victims.

Marshall doesn’t have a set monetary goal, but she does have a goal of where to donate. She’ll be giving the money to the children’s fund at Idaho Central Credit Union. Marshall said that kids go through a tumultuous time when they lose their house, and she knows that first hand.

“My own children went through it. It was very had for them, and so I’m grateful that we can help out. And I just want to tell the families how much my heart goes out to them, and hopefully, they can get their lives restored,” Marshall said.

To add to the night of community service, Marshall also held a food drive for the Idaho Foodbank. Marshall said the family has always made giving back a part of its life, but even more so after the home makeover.
