Police investigate arson in Idaho Falls

The Idaho Falls Police Department is investigating an arson that caused $10,000 in damage to a building in the 500 block of West 19th Street.

The fire occurred sometime between Nov. 13 and 15.

Police began investigating the fire Monday after the fire marshal determined that a structure fire at the business park was started under suspicious circumstances.

Investigators found a large pile of burnt magazines and papers on the floor in the front of the building. The fire spread and burnt a portion of a desk, chair and carpet in the building. There was also a lot of smoke damage.

The fire extinguished itself because of lack of oxygen, police said.

The owner discovered the fire had occurred Thursday.

Anyone with information about this fire is asked to contact the IFPD at (208) 529-1200 or Crimestoppers at 522-1983.
