Retired K-9 finds a home

Sammy, the retired Rexburg K-9 officer we introduced you to Tuesday ( http://goo.gl/QQ7hC) , has found a new home.

The Rexburg Police Department said an Idaho Falls area law enforcement dog-handler has adopted the black lab.

The officer also has other retired K-9 officers at his home.

The Rexburg Animal Shelter received numerous phone calls Wednesday from viewers who saw Sammy’s last night and expressed interest in adopting him, and Local News 8 also received emails and calls from around the country interested in adopting Sammy or putting him back to work on another police force.

The shelter’s hope was to find a law enforcement-related home, and that’s just what Sammy found.
