Kindergarten registration kicks off in SD #91

Kindergarten registration kicked off in Idaho Falls School District 91 Tuesday, and school officials are predicting a record number of students this fall.

School administrators said SD 91 has seen record kindergarten classes the last few years, so parents are encouraged to register their children early.

While kids are not required by the state to attend kindergarten, many parents do opt to send their children to school at an earlier age.

“In the last five years we’ve had over 800 students register for kindergarten, so those are really big classes,” said Margaret Wimborne, community engagement coordinator with SD 91.

Children must be 5-years-old on or before September 1, 2013 to register for kindergarten.

Parents will also need to submit a copy of the child’s birth certificate, immunization records, and proof of residency.
