Idaho Gives: Raising Money for Local Non-Profits

Nonprofit organizations across Idaho are raising money today for the first annual “Idaho Gives Campaign.”

This is an opportunity to help raise money for these organizations. The goal is $500,000 statewide in 24 hours.

It’s a great chance to talk see what people are doing, see what kind of activities they’re fundraising for. And also to take a peek into the old Rio Theatre. So many people in our community have a history with this space,” said Executive Director of the Idaho Falls Arts Council, Jill Barnes.

The Tautphaus Park Zoo in Idaho Falls is one of the organizations hoping for donations. The money they raise will go toward revamping the otter exhibit.

The otters currently have no way of getting from the island to the mainland. The donations will add a log where the otters will be able to cross.

“So where we want the log to be is right about here on the mainland and over to the island so the otters can go back and forth and the care staff can go back and forth. So by donating to the Tautphaus Park Zoological Society you’ll get to see a better view of the otters,” said zoo Superintendant Beth Rich.

The minimum donation is $10. Idaho Gives will be taking donations until 11:59 p.m. Thursday.
