Prosecutor to seek death penalty against Arroyo

The Bonneville County prosecutor said he will seek the death penalty in the case of a man accused in the deadly shooting of a woman.

In January, Adan Arroyo of Blackfoot allegedly killed Kristy Aschliman, 21, in Bonneville County by shooting her in the head.

He is charged with first-degree murder and an enhancement charge of use of a deadly weapon in the commission of a felony. He has pleaded not guilty, but the trial has not yet taken place. Arroyo has been scheduled to be in court in July.

On Wednesday, Prosecutor Bruce Pickett said he had filed the documents to seek the death penalty Friday.
